St. Charles City – County Library Celebrates New Bookmobile with Ribbon Cutting

The St. Charles City – County Library District, along with the Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation celebrated the delivery and grand opening of the new Bookmobile with a Drive – Thru ribbon cutting on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Attending the event was St. Peters Mayor Len Pagano, and members of the Board of Alderman and City of St. Peters staff, City of St. Charles Mayor Dan Borgmeyer, Library Foundation Board Members, staff and Board Members and Ambassadors with the St. Charles Regional Chamber.

With a custom build time of two years, the 32 foot-long truck was recently delivered to the Library at a cost of approximately $314,000 and fully-funded by donations from the St. Charles City-County Library Foundation. No tax payer funding was used in the purchase of this new service.

The truck is handicap accessible with a built-in lift and features amenities you’d find at any in-person branch including Pick up Holds and return materials, free WiFi, on site Chromebooks for use, the ability to print, copy and scan documents and a small selection of books for all ages and genre interest.

The bookmobile will visit locations every other week (as that is how long check outs are for materials), with stops in Foristell, Defiance, Portage Dis Sioux and Josephville. For dates and times of the bookmobile stops and specific addresses for locations, please call 636-487-8044 or visit their website at stchlibrary.org/bookmobile
